Privacy policy#

domainsearch is built to need as little of your data as possible: there are no accounts, no tracking cookies, and nothing you type is stored beyond what answering your query requires.

Who we are#

The service at domainsearch24.eu is operated by botBrains UG (haftungsbeschraenkt), Osloer Str. 83, 13359 Berlin, Germany ("we"). Contact: liam@domainsearch24.eu. See the imprint.

What we process#

Queried domain names. The domains you check are processed in memory to answer the request. Availability results are cached server-side for up to 24 hours (keyed by the domain, not by you) so repeated checks are fast. Cached results carry no information about who asked.

Registry lookups. To answer authoritatively, the queried domain name is sent to third parties as any resolver or WHOIS tool would: to public DNS resolvers and to the RDAP service of the responsible registry (operators differ per TLD, e.g. Verisign for .com, DENIC for .de). Only the domain name itself is disclosed: never your IP address or any identifier of yours; the request originates from our server.

Server logs. Our edge proxy keeps short-lived technical logs (timestamp, requested path, response code, truncated client information) for abuse defense and debugging, deleted or rotated within days.

Rate limiting. Anonymous requests are counted per IP address in memory only, with counters that decay within minutes. IP addresses are not written to disk.

What we do not do#

• No accounts, no profiles, no tracking cookies, no fingerprinting.
• No sale or sharing of query data with third parties beyond the registry lookups described above.
• No advertising.

Legal basis#

Processing described above is based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest: operating the service you asked to use and defending it from abuse). Registry lookups happen at your initiative when you submit a query (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).

Hosting#

The service runs on servers in the European Union.

Your rights#

You have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection under the GDPR, and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Since we hold no data keyed to you, there is usually nothing to look up: but write to liam@domainsearch24.eu and we will help.
